📋 Requirement Details

Quality assessments under the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards have been significantly enhanced to evaluate both conformance with standards and achievement of performance objectives. Assessments conducted from 2025 onwards must primarily evaluate conformance with the new Global Internal Audit Standards rather than the 2017 IPPF. External quality assessments now require at least one team member with an active CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designation. The assessment scope has expanded to include evaluation of the internal audit function’s strategy, performance measurement methodology, digital capabilities, and stakeholder value delivery. Quality assessments must also review conformance with applicable Topical Requirements and the effectiveness of coordination with other assurance providers. The results must be communicated to the board with specific improvement action plans.
